Larry J. Basinger, 78, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born to Harold and Rosabel (Miller) Basinger on May 11, 1942 in Delphos. He was united in marriage to Susan Smith on December 22, 1978, who survives in Delphos.
He is also survived by four children, Josie (Aaron) Reeves of Shade, OH, Joel (Jodi) Basinger of Sevierville, TN, Jessica Basinger of Delphos, and Jordan (Christy) Basinger of Spencerville; six grandchildren, Brooke Basinger, Gabriella King, Isabela, Emery, Everett, and Autumn Basinger; one great-grandchild, Mathias Barrera; four siblings, Donna Derner of Delphos, Dean (Diane) Basinger of Cloverdale, Cecilia (Tom) Frank and Lucy (Joe) Canole all of Kansas City, MO.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and grandmother, Eunice Miller.
Larry was a member of The Delphos Wesleyan Church where he served on the Ministry Team, and taught Sunday School. He was very active in his church also leading three Bible studies during the week. He spent his life serving the Lord by taking care of people and teaching the Word wherever he was able. He often taught and ministered at church camps during the summer. He was a 1960 graduate of Delphos Jefferson, and also received a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Haddix and Rev. Pamela King will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be distributed to Larry’s favorite Missions.
