Leslie N. Dienstberger, 92, of Delphos, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s. He was born November 19, 1929, in Delphos, OH, to Jacob and Anna (Hirn) Dienstberger. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Maxine Cox in 1972. She preceded him in death on January 23, 1994.
Leslie is survived by a stepdaughter, Roxana (Larry) Haley of The Villages, FL; two step-grandchildren; great-nephew, Allen (Theresa) Hook of TN; and special friend, June Dunlap of Delphos.
Leslie was in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Korea. He was a claims adjuster in the insurance industry and managed an apartment complex for over 20 years. In Phoenix, AZ, he had worked in security at Sky Harbor International Airport. After retirement, he worked for Medi-Lab in Lima for 15 years. Music was a huge part of Leslie’s life. He had played in 41 different musical organizations with the smallest being three members and the largest being over 60 members. While living in Arizona, he organized a 17 piece brass band that played in Arizona and California. He was a player in the Village Idiots since 1944. He was a life member of Delphos V.F.W. #3035, and Van Wert D.A.V. #54. He was also a member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, Marine Corps League in Lima, OH, “The Chosen Few” Korean Veterans, Seagoing Marine Association, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allentown Cemetery with military graveside rights by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
