Louis E. Jettinghoff

Louis Edward Jettinghoff, 92,of Delphos passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at The Meadows of Delphos.  He was born on March 19, 1931, to Otto and Mary (Kershner) Jettinghoff.  On October 22, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lorene Meyer.  She survives in Delphos.

He is also survived by Karen (Wendell) Kay of Honesdale, PA, Thomas L. Jettinghoff of Lima,  Ruth (Thomas) Grothouse of Delphos,  Lisa (Kevin) Barlage of Columbus, and Steve (Sue) Jettinghoff of Delphos; nine grandchildren, Susan Granquist, Kevin Kay, Maureen Mezick, Elyse Schulte, Andrew Barlage, Joseph Barlage, Ashley Reynolds, Tyler Jettinghoff, and Hayley Vogt;  two step-grandchildren, Kaiti Wolford and Kylla Myers; 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way, one step great-grandchild; and in-laws, Carl Meyer and Marilyn (Gary) Elsass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Arthur (Mildred) Jettinghoff, Alice (Jerry) Hays, Paul (Kay) Jettinghoff, and Mary Dienstberger; daughter-in-law, Beverly Jettinghoff, sister-in-law, Ida Meyer, and sister and brother-in-law Doris and Earl Gerdeman. 

Louis was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.   He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1949.  He was active at St. John’s serving as an usher and on the Restoration and Finance committees.  He was a member of the K of C serving as Grand Knight. He also sang with the Autumn Years Choraliers.  Louis was an Army veteran having served in Berlin, Germany during the Korean War. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Lima in 1994 after 35 years. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 1:30-6:00 pm and one hour before the services on Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. On Sunday, a rosary service by the Delphos Knights of Columbus will be held at 5:15 pm and a parish wake at 5:30 pm.
