Luella Mae Dray, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday January 27, 2022 at Worthington Christian Village. She was born June 10, 1931, on the family farm near Gomer, Ohio to Anna M. Foulkes & Ivor B. Watkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne B Dray, and brother, Willis E. Watkins.
She is survived by daughters, Karen (Paul) Grant of Westerville, Barbara (Ron) Wegesin of Dublin and Susan (Mark) Lickert of Strongsville; grandchildren, Brett (Kacey) Powell of Reynoldsburg, Lindsay (Erik) Powell Schmidt of Gahanna, Leah (Jason) Powell of Dublin, Andy (Lindsay) Wegesin of Sarasota, Florida, Kathryn Lickert of Strongsville, and Matt (Amber) Lickert of Omaha, Nebraska; and twelve great-grandchildren, Alyse and Jackson, Avery and Ellis, Quinn and Luke, Landon, Elle, Penelope, and Ethan, Elizabeth and Christian.
Mae graduated from Gomer High School. After graduating she worked at the Metropolitan Bank in Lima. On June 10, 1950 she married the love of her life Wayne. While her girls were young Mae was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing. Returning to work at the Commercial Bank in Delphos, Ohio her determined effort earned her the position of managing the Loan Department. Mae had an adventurous spirit that spurred her and Wayne’s travels in their Airstream trailer and joining caravans throughout the contiguous United States, Canada, Mexico, and Alaska. She also thoroughly enjoyed being her late husband’s co-pilot in their small private airplane.
She was a 50-year member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos and she was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church, Westerville.
Friends may call from 11:30 - 12:30 on Monday, January 31st at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m.
Visitation will also be held from 1:00-3:00 on Tuesday, February 1st at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, Ohio, followed immediately by a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
