Madelyn Schimmoeller Obituary

Madelyn A. Schimmoeller, 68, of Delphos passed away on October 2, 2021 at The Meadows of Delphos.  She was born on August 23, 1953, in Lima to Robert and Alice (Hoelderle) Bonifas who both preceded her in death.  On January 7, 1984, she was united in marriage to William Schimmoeller who survives in Delphos.


She is also survived by five children, Edwin (Michelle) Ezzelle, Benjamin Smith, Becky Smith, Brandy (Jerry) Hundley, and Britney (Scott) Calvelage; fourteen grandchildren; a brother, Jan (Carol) Bonifas, of St. Mary’s, and a sister, Barbara Bonifas, of Cincinnati.


Madelyn was a member of St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church.  She was known as the “pie lady” of Orchard Tree Restaurant in Van Wert.  Most important to Madelyn were her grandchildren.  She loved to bake and spend time at Indian Lake and Gatlinburg, TN. 


A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.  Father Dennis Walsh will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.   Visitation will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, from 2-8 at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
