Marie Elizabeth Smith, 86, of Elida,Ohio passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on April 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family, due to complications from a brain aneurysm.
She was born April 17, 1939 in Upland, California to Harold and Ruth (Horst) Bucher (both proceeded her in death).
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Carol Roger Smith of Elida, Ohio, who she would have been married to for 68 years on April 17, 2026. She is also survived by her five children, Diane (Dave) Martin, Delwyn (Char) Smith, Bev (Merv) Shirk and, Wayne (Chris) Smith all of Elida, Ohio, and LouAnn (Lyndell) Crisenbery of Patriot, Ohio. Marie is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is her two sisters, Margaret (Richard) Ross and Miriam (Wilmer) Good, and brother-in-law Henry Yoder, all of Sarasota, Florida. Marie is also survived by a dear friend of many years, Thelma Powell of Elida, Ohio.
Proceeding Marie in death were two sisters, Grace Yoder and Violet Bear, a brother James Bucher, and a grandson Jake Crisenbery.
Marie accepted the Lord at a young age and has been a faithful member of Sharon Mennonite Church. She dearly loved her family and friends and was a faithful prayer warrior. Her servant heart ministered to others in so many ways, two of them being her card ministry and passing out candy to the many children in her life. She was her husband‘s pride secretary for 33 years at D&C Motor Sales. Her loving presence, graceful spirit , and beautiful smile will be treasured and missed by all that loved her.
Visitation will be held at Sharon Mennonite church on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2 to 4 PM and again from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will also be held at Sharon Mennonite Church on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. Graveside committal service will follow at the Sharon Mennonite Cemetery.
