Martha “Marty” C. Hotz, 81, of Paulding, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born March 1, 1941, in Venedocia, to Clarence J. and Freda M. (Donaldson) Kill. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Louis “Louie” W. Hotz. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2022.
Martha is survived by daughters, Jackie (Chris) Strabala of Auburn, IN, and Sandy (Chris) Vorst of Middle Point; grandchildren, Lexi, and Kelly Strabala, and Katie, Tara, and Betty Vorst; and sisters, Kathy (Bill) Courtney, Bert (Ron) Schimmoeller, and Rita (Sam) Utrup all of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Elmer Kill, Alfred Kill, Rosie Hilvers, Carl Kill, and Ralph Kill.
Martha was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulding. She was a graduate of Spencerville High School’s Class of 1959. Martha was the face and personality of Lou-Mars Restaurant in Payne and then Paulding which she owned with her husband. She also worked for Paulding and Van Wert County hospitals. She enjoyed gardening especially taking care of her flowers. She also loved cooking, playing cards, and going to casinos.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Landeck Church Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at St. John the Baptist Church in Landeck.
