Michael H. Smith

Michael “Stretch” H. Smith, 67, of Delphos, formerly of St. Marys, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Lost Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 18, 1956, in Lima, OH, to Claude “Pete” and Barbara Joan (Campbell) Smith. They both preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by children, Christopher (Kristina) Smith of St. Marys, Julie (Jim) Wagner, and Jeffrey Smith both of Delphos; grandchildren, Brandyn (Beth), Aliyah, and Logan; great-grandchildren, Mirabella, Dee, and Nicholas; close family friend, Robert Boroff; brother, Harry (Karen) Smith of New Bremen; sister, Susie Kolsky of St. Marys; brother-in-law, Dennis Schwarck; sister-in-law, Michelle Smith; and former wife, Susan Smith.

Michael was preceded in death by brothers, Jeffrey and Timothy Smith; and sister, Kathy Schwarck.

Michael worked at Hayes-Albion in Spencerville for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #214 in Delphos and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Lima. Michael enjoyed building and riding bikes. He was a fan of Nascar and Ohio State Buckeyes football. Michael loved reading, fishing and to country cruise. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Spencerville. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
