Mike Shobe

Michael “Mike” Scott Shobe, 50, of Delphos, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.  Mike was born in Lima, OH, on October 20, 1970, to Maynard and Carol (Buzzard) Shobe.  Maynard preceded him in death, and Carol survives in Delphos.  On October 12, 1991, he was united in marriage to Jill Reindel.  She survives in Delphos.

Mike is also survived by a son, Gavin (Maddie Nigh) Shobe of Delphos; two daughters, Lauren (Brandon) Tucker of Van Wert, and Morgan (Nick) Reynolds of Lima; a grandson, Beau; a brother, Jeff Shobe; two sisters, Terri (Duane) Coil and Sherry (Joe) Warnecke,  all of Delphos; mother and father in-law, Melvin and Jane Reindel; brothers and sisters  in-law, Rick (Deb) Reindel, Deb (Lenny) Klaus, Mike (Karen) Reindel, Diane (Jim) Webb, Cindy (Chuck) Grothouse, Connie (Dave) Wannemacher, and Tim (Tamie) Reindel, all of Delphos; and many nieces and nephews. Mike also had a best friend, Pat “Murph”, who was that true friend we all wish we had.

Mike retired from Dana after 26 years.  He was a member of Delphos St. John’s Catholic Church, the Eagles Aerie 471, and he and his family were seasonal campers at Huggy Bear Campground.  He was a 4-H advisor for Delphos Livestock for years; he loved camping and driving and socializing in his golf cart with a Busch Light and a Marlboro Ultra Light in hand. Mike was a big OSU fan who loved vacationing in Mexico and watching cooking shows.  But, most of all, he loved his dog, Mack, and spending time with his family.   Mike didn’t know a stranger, and his witty sense of humor made him fun to be around. He will surely be missed. 

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed in the church 1/2 hr prior to the funeral Mass. Everyone is welcomed to join in praying the rosary in assisting the soul of our loved one in their journey to attaining eternal life and peace. Father Charles Obinwa will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m., at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, OH. To honor Mike’s journey, the family has suggested guests wear their “Shobey Strong” or Ohio State attire to the visitation.
