Patricia Wieging, 88, of Ft. Jennings, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at The Meadows of Delphos. She was born February 20, 1934, in Ohio City, OH, to Oliver and Mamie (Agler) Houts. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on April 24, 1954, to Thomas Eugene Wieging. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1998. Following Tom’s death, Ralph Speer was her companion for 22 years until his death on January 17, 2022.

Pat is survived by her son, Randy (Matt Luginbill) Wieging of Fort Jennings.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Houts.

Pat graduated from Van Wert High School. She was a secretary for Nationwide Insurance. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings Legion Auxiliary, Life Member of the Delphos VFW Post 3035, hostess for Van Wert Civic Center Theatre & Jester’s Roving Players, and the Ohio Community Theater Association (OCTA), St. Joseph Altar Society, and the Building Committee for the new church building. She loved her dogs, Alfie, Darby & Urban, visiting Coldwater Lake sandbar, and eating chocolate chip cookies and butter pecan ice cream. She was an adopted mother to many. Pat was a beautiful soul, loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral mass at church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Van Wert Civic Theatre, Ft. Jennings Fire Department, or donor’s choice.
