Ralph F. Hoehn, 99, of Delphos, passed away at 8:02 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Vancrest of Delphos. Ralph was born September 16, 1921, in Ottoville, Ohio to Joseph and Regina (Kemper) Hoehn. On February 12, 1945, he married Alice Martz, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Edward (Marsha) Hoehn of Delphos and David (Anne) Hoehn of Liberty Twp., OH; one daughter Nancy (John) Alexander of West Chester, OH; and a daughter-in-law, Rene Hoehn of Delphos; one son, Daniel Hoehn, is deceased.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Other survivors include a brother, Jerry (Shirley) Hoehn of Delphos, OH; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Martz of Delphos and Earlene Hoehn of Olmsted Twp, OH; and one brother-in-law, Dick Wolke of Ottawa, Oh.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Hoehn, Orville Hoehn, Victor Hoehn, Richard Hoehn, Joseph Hoehn, and Tom Hoehn; and sisters, Wilma (Hoehn) Sunderhaus, Mary (Hoehn) Mack, Norma (Hoehn) Wolke, Jenny (Hoehn) Maag, and Mildred (Hoehn) Wieging.
Mr. Hoehn was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, flying 35 missions as a pilot of a B-24 Liberator in the European Theatre. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters.
Mr. Hoehn was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from B.P. Chemical in Lima in 1982. He was also a beekeeper all of his life. He graduated from Ottoville High School, class of 1939. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Delphos. He was also a member of the V.F.W. #3740 in Ottoville, the Eagles Aerie #471, Knights of Columbus #1362, and the American Legion Post #268. Mr. Hoehn was also a former member of the Lima Elks Lodge and the Delphos Club. The family is grateful for the services provided by the exceptional staff and friends at Vancrest Assisted Living during his stay there.
He will be missed by all who loved him.
Due to covid, there will be no visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Father Scott Perry will officiate. Military rites will be performed by Ottoville VFW. A private burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
