Richard Eugene Suever, Sr., 93, of Delphos, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 2, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born November 20, 1932, in Delphos, OH, to Edwin and Belva (Heil) Suever. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Rita Carmean on September 13, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2022.
Richard is survived by children, Richard E. (Doris) Suever, Jr., Pamela R. Ricker, and Paula J. (Rob) Ruda, all of Delphos; sister, Martha Miller; brother, Larry Suever; sister-in-law, Betty Carmean; seven grandchildren, Christina (Lee), Richard III (Becca), Matthew (Stephanie), Timothy (Lisa), Ryan (Meghmala), Robert, and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren, Braxton, Bryar, Brody, Ezra, Zara, Eliza, Emma, Madelyn, Jameson, and Colin.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edwin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Robert Miller, Almeda (John) Ondo, Patricia (Melvin) Johnson, Carl (Glenna) Carmean, Lee (Ursula) Carmean, and Gordon Carmean.
Richard worked at Krogers and Rays Supermarket. He served in the United States Navy from October 1952 to September 1956. Richard loved sports especially the St. John Blue Jays, Jefferson Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed wood crafts, outdoor games especially croquet, gardening, plastic canvas, puzzles, Yahtzee, and Farkle. In his later years he took up jogging, you could also see him walking all over town. Richard’s greatest love was his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Military grave rites will be performed by Delphos Veteran’s Council. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home with a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.
