Rita Suever, 88, of Delphos, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s. She was born May 1, 1933, to Gordie and Agnes (Kohorst) Carmean.
On September 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Richard Suever. He survives in Delphos.
Rita is survived by a son, Richard E. (Doris) Suever Jr.; and two daughters, Pamela R. Ricker, and Paula J. (Rob) Ruda all of Delphos; two sisters, Almeda Ondo of Delphos and Patricia Johnson of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law, Martha Miller and Betty Carmean both of Delphos; and a brother-in-law, Larry Suever of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Christina, Richard III, Matthew, Timothy, Ryan, Robbie, and Tyler; and ten great-grandchildren, Braxton, Bryar, Brody, Ezra, Zara, Eliza, Emma, Madelyn, Jameson, and Colin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl (Glenna) Carmean, Lee (Ursula) Carmean, and Gordon Carmean; brothers-in-law, John Ondo, Melvin Johnson, Bob Miller, and Edwin Suever Jr.
Rita was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She had worked at DWG Cigar Factory, and then was a cafeteria worker for nineteen years at St. John’s Schools where she was affectionately known as Grandma Shorty by the students. She was an avid bowler and she also loved crafting. Her favorites were crocheting and plastic canvas, diamond paintings, and sewing. She also loved to read. However, her greatest love was her husband and their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved spending time with them.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home with a Parish Wake at 7:30.
