Robert L. German

Robert “Bob” Leo German, 83, of Delphos, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at The Meadows of Delphos. He was born October 6, 1939, in Delphos, OH, to Leo and Regina (Wurst) German. They both preceded him in death. On November 6, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Wagner. She survives in Delphos.

Bob is also survived by children, Diane (Steve “Archie”) Metcalfe and Kathy (Chris) Britt; grandchildren, Tim and Steve Metcalfe, Mallory (Jared) Ricker, all of Delphos, Kelsey Britt of Norman, OK, and Connor Britt of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Ricker; two brothers, Alfred German, Carl German; in-laws, Donna Wagner, Kenny (Mary Ann) Wagner, and Jeannine (Dan) Filler; step-sister, Jan Wessell; and step-brother, Bob (Linda) Lause.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Vern German; and brothers-in-law, Bob and Melvin Wagner; sisters-in-law, Patricia Wagner and Mary Ann German; and step-brother-in-law, Jerry Wessell.

Bob was a graduate of Delphos St. John’s; Class of 1957. He served in the United States Army at Fort Gordon, GA. He retired as a truck driver and salesman for Frito Lay. Bob was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, American Legion Post #268, and the Liar’s Table at Jim’s Restaurant. He always enjoyed Canadian fishing trips in the fall with his brothers and nephews. He liked tinkering on his computer and taking care of his salt and freshwater aquariums.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Thomas Hunyor officiating. There will be Military Grave Rites by the Delphos Veteran’s Council following Mass. Burial will be held at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home with a Parish Wake at 7:30 p.m.
