Robert "Bob" Vondran

Robert "Bob" Vondran, 66, of Van Wert, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2023, at Walnut Crossing Memory Care Facility in Marysville, Ohio, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. 

Bob was born on July 20, 1956, to Bernard "Bud" and Clara (Pohl) Vondran, in Delphos Ohio. They both preceded him in death.

Bob is a graduate of both Delphos St. John's High School and The Ohio State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Bob is a former employee of Phillips/Magnavox in Ottawa and retired in 2021 after 17 years of service with Michelin/BF Goodrich in Woodburn, IN. 

He was married to his wife of 20 years, Rhonda Mericle Vondran of Delphos who preceded him in death in 2020. Together, they traveled frequently and loved to visit the sunny beaches of Florida every year. 

Bob is survived by his former spouse, Karen J. Maloney, who cared for him throughout his illness; their children, Amanda (Jason Cornelius) Vondran of Bellefontaine, Michael (Kristy) Vondran of Lima, and Melissa (Ryan) O'Dell of Upper Arlington; grandchildren, Isabelle, Adalind, and Alexander O'Dell; and grandsons, Brady and Cade Vondran; siblings, Norman Vondran, Gerald (Patricia) Vondran, and Marilyn Titzer; brother-in-law, Mark Mericle; sister-in-law, Susan Parsons; and nieces and nephews as well.

Bob was passionate about music, motorcycles, and all things Harley Davidson. He and Rhonda rode often and always stopped by a Harley store wherever they happened to be. He was proud to own a shirt from every Harley store in the US. His travels whether for work or fun took him all around the world, his favorite places being Germany, Amsterdam, and Romania, which he remembered fondly. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was kind-hearted, and loved animals of all kinds. He especially enjoyed spending time with his pets, Molly and Smokey. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Delphos, the Patriot Guard Riders of Ohio, and the Wetzel Motorcycle Club. Bob was a loving father and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to the caregivers and staff at Walnut Crossing, who provided the utmost care for Bob throughout his journey. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 12 pm to 3 pm at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, Ohio with Funeral Services at 3 pm. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos, Ohio.
