Ruth E. Betts

Ruth Emma Betts, 88, of Delphos, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s. She was born December 17, 1932, in Fort Jennings, OH, to Joseph and Marie (Hoersten) Ellerbrock. They both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Carl Betts, Jr. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1994.

Ruth is survived by her children, Darlene Betts, Dan Betts both of Delphos and Karen Bonifas of St. Mary’s; her sister, Jeanie Leis of Spencerville; two grandchildren, Jeremy Eickholt and Tiffany (Tony) Wannemacher; three great-grandchildren, Case, Alexis, and Kayla; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Terry Betts; son-in-law, Clifford Bonifas; two sisters and two brothers-in-law.

Ruth worked at Delphos Poultry for many years, Meyer IGA for 11 years, and Dave Evans for five years until her retirement. She attended Fort Jennings High School. Ruth enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked gambling before Covid-19 hit.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
