Ruth D. Wassink, 90, of Elida, passed away at 5:58 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1931, in Rimer, OH, to Edwin and Naomi (Sherry) Myers. She was united in marriage to Joe Richard Wassink on August 19, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1977.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Wassink-Logan of Elida; a son, Joseph (Michele) Wassink of Lima; a brother, Terry (Janet) Myers of Elida; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Scott Wassink; a sister, Mary Lawrence; and a brother, Jack Myers.

Family was a high priority for Ruth and she loved spending time with them.  She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Elida. She retired from Gomer Elementary after teaching 31 years.  She also enjoyed volunteering at TV 44.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Immanuel in Elida. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Harter & Schier Funeral Home on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 2-6 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral service.
