Vilas Earl Amstutz, 93, of Elida, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at his residence.
He was born January 21, 1925, to the late Moses and Aldine (Nussbaum) Amstutz. He was united in marriage to Lillian Elnora Brunk on December 18, 1950. She passed away in 2000. He then married Mabel (Bear) Breneman on November 28, 2004. She survives in Elida.
He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Kelham of Kendallville, IN, Patricia Valencia of Fairhope, AL, and Rita (Tom) Burden of Elida; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great greatgrandson; one sister, Lila (Ralph) Smucker of Smithville; one step-son, Samuel (Irene) Breneman of Danville, OH; two step-daughters, Miriam (William) Coblentz, and Esther (Elowayne) Mast, both of MO; 19 step-grandchildren, 57 step-great grandchildren and 6 Step- great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Esther (Lester) Steiner and Irene Amstutz and one brother Paul George Amstutz.
He was a member of Sharon Mennonite Church in Elida and was a retired mechanic. He enjoyed gardening with his wife and tinkering in his garage.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Sharon Mennonite Church in Elida. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
