Herman E. Mox, 87, of Delphos, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born July 26, 1930, in Allen County to Carl and Elma Z. (Spring) Mox. Both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Gertrude H. Trautwein on October 10, 1964, who survives.
He is survived by one son, Eric Mox, of Delphos and a daughter, Tammy (Bob) Reiter of Norwalk, Ohio; two granddaughters, Gabby and Savannah Reiter; one sister, Ethel Ponting of Delphos and one brother, Carl Mox of Delphos.
Herman retired as shop foreman from District 1 Garage, Lima, Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the US Army and instructor on tank repair on proving ground in Aberdeen, Maryland. He was a 40-plus year member of the American Legion, Post #268, Delphos, Ohio. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos. He was also a member of the NRA, Kalida Fish & Game, and past member of Tri-State Gun Club. He was a 1948 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School.
Herman enjoyed wood working and farming. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was truly an avid outdoorsman.
Memorial services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Nelson officiating. Memorial viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Military Burial Rites will be held by the Delphos Veterans Council immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial viewing will also be held at Harter and Schier Funeral Home on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 5-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Association, or St. Peter Lutheran Church.
